Minnesota Boosts Traffic to TakeMeFishing.org
Success can be measured in many ways and for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR), which has just wrapped up a 2007 angler recruitment and retention campaign, an increase in Web traffic is a key early indicator. MN DNR’s 2007 campaign included billboard advertisements in advance of its fishing season opener on May 12, a direct mail piece to lapsed anglers in May and a reminder in June. During the month of May, the total number of visits to TakeMeFishing.org from Minnesota increased by 137 percent compared to April. “This shows us that Minnesota’s marketing efforts, which include Take Me Fishing imagery and Web links, are having a positive impact on TakeMeFishing.org,” said RBFF State Outreach Manager Stephanie Hussey. “We hope other states will take notice and get on board. Together, we can begin reversing the decline in fishing participation.”RBFF is assisting the MN DNR with its program evaluation. Stay tuned for more information on fishing license sales in September. To learn more about the MN DNR’s marketing efforts, e-mail
