Squirrel  If the Bad Bass won't bite even when you throw it right in their mouth, it's time to broaden your search for the ultimate catch.

Squirrel close up   I landed this little guy right off the dog food bag in our campsite. This species...commonly called a ground squirrel is very similar to those Bad Bass we all love to chase. The ground squirrel is a wary and intelligent adversary who prefers to lurk in cover and concealment and pounce when least expected. He puts up a good fight when caught and often returns to the same food source once released. One big difference is these little scrapers have BIG, sharp teeth and will use them once threatened. If you plan to get into this sport....have a plan on how to release the little fighters. Equipment you will need includes; fishing pole, reel, line and bait(Dog food works great). Make certain your snare is designed to come off easily without harming the squirrel. Practice catch and release so future generations can enjoy this sport as much as we do. This squirrel was released unharmed and in fact returned to stealing dog food right away.
