| Bucket | A clumsy form of metallic footgear found on fishing boats. |

| Camera | A small, but quite heavy object used by anglers to store small amounts of water and a canister of spoiled film. |

| Catch-and-release | 1.a term used in a public stretch of public stream where all fish caught must be released. 2.a term used in a private stretch of stream where all fishermen caught must be released after a series of threats, a long lecture, and a brief introduction to a very large dog. |

| Fishing | the art of casting, trolling, jigging, or spinning while freezing, sweating, swatting, or swearing. |

| Flipping | Underhand cast used to quietly set your bait in a precise spot. You control the line with your hand.

| Habitat | a place where a particular species of fish was last week. |

| Hawg | A word used to describe a larger than average Bass. This could refer to any species of Bass.

| Hook | (1) A curved piece of metal used to catch fish. (2) A clever advertisement to entice a fisherman to spend his live savings on a new rod and reel. (3) The punch administered by said fisherman's wife after he spends their life savings.

| Line | Something you give your co-workers when they ask on Monday how your fishing went the past weekend.

| Lip'em | A method of holding fish by placing your thumb inside the mouth. This helps protect their slime coating. Don't apply this method with Pike, Musky or Walleye. If you do, you will learn quickly why you shouldn't.

| Lure | An object that is semi-enticing to fish, but will drive an angler into such a frenzy that he will charge his credit card to the limit before exiting the tackle shop.
