Yesterday, I posted about a trip to the lake to find some deep bass but ended up getting them from the pads. So today, I head out rigged for shallow bass.

I launch the boat and start fishing at the landing. On my 5th cast, a big bass blows up on my buzzbait. I am thinking I'm on the right track. Wrong. An hour later and not another fish.

So to the rod box I go. I grab out my crankin rod with a Strike King Series 5 crank and head for deeper water.

I stop on a point I have marked on my gps. (In July, this point was loaded with really nice fish)I crank it for about 20 minutes and land at least 15 bass. The largest was 20". Most were 15"-16".

Again, Plan A doesn't go as I hoped but with a few adjustments, some nice fish were caught.

I'm guessing you were on Rush Lake?
